How to plug in – maker version

Having moved three times in the past 10 years, I have been repeatedly impressed by how community makerspaces are ideal for finding your way in a new community. They are invariably busy with welcoming and interesting people with a wide range of interests. Go take a tour, join up, and get engaged.

My new avocational home base, the Rockville (MD) Makerspace, is no exception. Located in the very active and diverse Rockville Town Center, it houses a typical array of maker tools (3D printers, laser cutters, CNC, crafting gear, woodworking tools, electronics, etc.) as well as tool and seed libraries. More importantly, there is a core group of members and staff who are dedicated to helping people grow their skills in making stuff and to the success of the space. I look forward to being part of the great things going on there.
